Accuracy
Multi-window applications are tracked as one session. Applications that open several windows, Microsoft Teams being the usual case, previously produced a stream of fragmented one and two minute rows. The windows of one application are now consolidated into a single session. Where the windows are combined, focused, typing and meeting time are added together, because only one window can be in the foreground at a time. Visible time takes the largest of them, because several windows can be on screen at once and adding them would invent time that was never spent. See How tracking works. Browser tab time is measured on actual focus. Time on a site is now attributed on the basis of which tab was genuinely in front, which removes the over-counting that could occur when switching between tabs quickly.Both changes alter the shape of the data, not just its accuracy. If you compare a period before March 2026 with one after, expect fewer, longer rows for multi-window applications. Totals are more accurate; row counts are not comparable.
Single sign-on
The single sign-on flow was completed. The client resolves the Windows account to a ReclaimTime account through the backend before signing in, matching on the account’s login, its Windows username field or its email address, and only ever returning accounts that have single sign-on enabled. When no account matches, the client retries the whole lookup every five minutes, so an account created or corrected by an administrator is picked up without anyone touching the machine. The status dialog on the employee’s machine shows the exact Windows username and email being sent, which is what a helpdesk needs. See First login and SSO.Upgrading
Machines on the channel update themselves. Nothing needs to be installed by hand and the employee does not need administrator rights, because the update runs through the elevated task that starts the client. To confirm the fleet has moved, use the Versions page and set Latest Version in Settings to whichever version you have published to your channel.Known limitations in this version
These are behaviours of 7.6.7.1, not regressions, and are listed so that nobody spends time investigating them. The first two are unchanged in 8.0:- Meeting detection covers Microsoft Teams and Skype only. Time in a softphone or another conferencing tool is recorded as ordinary focused time in that application.
- Idle time is measured but not reported. The client tracks it, and the dashboard has nowhere to show it yet.
- A sign-in may record the version as
0.0.0.0. This is a placeholder written before the client reports its real version. The dashboard treats it as unknown and falls back to the version on the activity rows.
